Message from the WDC - World Dance Council
The snow may lie thickly in Paris with freezing temperatures but at Disneyland Paris in the New York Hotel it is a different story.
The World Dance Council family from all corners of the world are gathering for the
2010 Amateur League World Open Championships
and there is a wonderful warm and friendly atmosphere with excitement in the air.
Dancers and teams come together from 46 countries and you can sense the joy and pleasure generated as dancers youth to mature celebrate all that is good in dance and especially their right to freedom to dance and freedom to choose.
They will compete secure in the knowledge that their performances will be assessed by highly qualified adjudicators with a lifetime of dance knowledge and experience. They too have shared and known the dedication and pleasure of striving to be the best.
They have known the highs and lows of being a dance competitor.
Truly what is more a “World Dance Games” will commence on Friday 10th December as during the next 3 days, in two ballrooms, there will be competitions from
Under 10 to over 55 for both the World Championships and Disney Resort Championships.
Formation, Classic Sequence, Modern Sequence, Salsa, Street dancing will all play their part and embracing the full spectrum of the
World Dance Councils
work there will be events for Pre Amateurs, and All girl partnerships. The World Dance Council is truly supportive of inclusion and not exclusion.
Great dancers of superb quality will compete in the two major World titles the WDC AL Ballroom and Latin Championships and to complete this magnificent event there will be the Professional Disney Resort Championships part of the World Super Series Rankings plus Rising Stars competitions.
The spine tingles at the thought of the excitement and brilliant dancing we will all witness over the next three days. Next year be part of it, cherish and strive to ensure your freedoms remain.
Welcome to all competitors from all countries, may you have a wonderful championship and take home memories to last you a life time.
Good Luck to all and remember just by being a part of the celebration of dance you are a winner.
