(1) WDC Press Release vom 6. Juni 2011:
German Open no longer part of WDC World Super Series
It is with great sadness we inform you that the Professional Championships at the German Open Championships (Stuttgart) will no longer be part of the world renowned WDC World Super Series. This will surely be very disappointing to those visitors to the GOC who , for many years have enjoyed the performances of the Worlds Best Professional dancers, the competitors of the WDC.
The contract between GOC and the World Dance Council was terminated following the decision of the GOC to limit entries to the Professional Championships by entering into an agreement with the IDSF Professional Division. This occurred despite the long-standing mutual co-operation between the Professional organisation of Germany (DPV) and Amateur Organisation of Germany (DTV).
We would urge everyone reading this press release to inform all competitors and members of the Dance fraternity that the best Professional Competitors will no longer be taking part in Stuttgart which will surely diminish the value of these formerly great championships
Steve Powell
Vice President, WDC Ltd.

WDC Press Release from June 6th 2011
With high interest we read the Press Release from the WDC Vice President Steve Powell and of course the sadness is also on our side.
For 24 years we host most of the Professional couples in the World in Mannheim and Stuttgart and please believe us, it was also for the German Open organizers a very negative information, to loose this “old” co-operation.
After many serious discussions we decide to follow the German Open tradition and give all Professional competitors the opportunity to take part at this prestigious event. In this case we are really astonished that Mr. Powell inform the WDC competitors and members, not to have the chance to take part at the 25th German Open this year.
We urgently like to inform all WDC competitors and members, that all Professional competitions in Stuttgart are Open to the World and not connected to IDSF PD or WDC. In this case we follow the system of the three major competitions in England (Blackpool, International and UK), to allow ALL PROFESSIONAL COUPLES in the World, to take part at the GOC in Stuttgart.
We will guarantee a high class Professional judges panel, what will be published during the next two weeks on our website.
Please inform all your competitors about this situation and we are honoured to welcome the best Professional couples in Stuttgart again.

Rudi Trautz, Deutscher Professional Tanzsportverband e.V., Erster Vizepräsident
GOC is not correct about the three big competitions in England. These competitions are under the rules and umbrella of the BDC (British Dance Council), the ruling body in Great Britain.
Stuttgart is not under the ruling of the DPV, who is member of the WDC like the BDC.
