I would like to congratulate everybody who danced in the recent wonderful United Kingdom championships. These championships were started in 1959 and this was the 51st year! This dance festival was a fantastic success. I regret that some couples were prevented from d...ancing in the amateur and professional competitions. I hope this situation will not happen again, next year, or indeed any year. I sincerely trust that the dance industry will continue to flourish and co-operate and that every couple will have the freedom to dance wherever and whenever they wish. Freedom to dance has been established for many years as a right of both the professional and amateur dancer. I believe that the freedom to dance, judge, organise or teach cannot be granted by only one earthly power. Freedom to dance is based on fairness, integrity and human principle. When force is needed to prevent people from dancing, judging, organising or teaching, then human rights are being violated. We cannot compromise the principle of human rights. So Dancers do not be afraid! You have the freedom and right to dance. You have the power! Together we can change it!

Eric Hancox: “Ballroomdancing is an athletic art“and no one or body (Federation) will ever be able to stop the freedom of executing this privilege of any Prof. or Amat. Dancer.
It is great and encouraging we have so many distinguished Professionals that DO SPEAK OUT regarding discrimination.
Who wants to be part of a "Federation" that takes up the cause of pro actively support discrimination as the entire world on the contrary now is fighting exactly any means of discrimination?
Thank you Philip and thank you Richard for exactly being addressing this issue. We have to bring this matter up. Again and again and again. Until every body understands what we want in our Dance World: freedom/liberty for all participants.

Es gibt nur eine Methode alles zu einem glücklichen Ende zu bringen indem alle Tänzer zusammenhalten.
Wie wäre es doch so schön wenn alle tanzen könnten wo sie wollen.
Ist dieser Wunsch so schwer zu begreifen? Warum den eigentlich? Warum diese Macht Ausspielereien?
Ich finde keine Antwort auf diese Fragen.
Darum kämpfen wir weiter bis jeder/jede begreift das endlich Frieden herrschen muss in unserer Tanzwelt.

Ich hoffe das mein Traum eines Tages in Erfüllung geht.

Our Freedom in Dancing
What do we understand regarding our Freedom in dancing; it is the freedom of teachers to teach and students to study, and pursue knowledge and research without unreasonable interference or restriction from law, institutional regulations, or public pressure.

Its basic elements include the freedom of teachers to inquire into any subject that evokes their intellectual concern; to present their findings to their students, colleagues, and others; to publish their data and conclusions without control or censorship; and to teach in the manner they consider professionally appropriate.

For students, the basic elements include the freedom to study subjects that concern them and to form conclusions for themselves and express their opinions and apply their knowledge everywhere and anywhere without restrictions. (No interference or restrictions from and by institutional regulations).

Having said this: in our Dancing World it applies the same way.
And the consequence out of all this: WE SHALL OVERCOME. Will take some time - but more and people are becoming aware what is happening. The UK in Bournemouth was just another episode.

Give where you are with what you have all that you can!

So, we in Switzerland should be in the forfront.

We are oing to continue to be on the offence against any restrictions, discriminations of all Professionals and Amateurs and hence of our Ballroom Dancing, [Dance Sport] since nobody, whoever thinks to be legitimate has the right to do so.
A source of discrimination and intimidation is in Switzerland where in an autocratic / dictatorial manner couples and Amateur Clubs are banned, Professionals are hindered from executing their privilege of executing their Dance Profession.
If every friend of a Freedom to Dance can persuade another person to join we will soon be more than 5000 friends of Freedom to Dance, a force to be reckoned with.
We have a responsibility towards the next generation, growing up in a free liberal and democratic world, give them access to all options in life, develop their skills and this of course also in a Free Dance World, we have the task [ought] to create.
