ATTEMPT TO BRING PEACE TO THE DANCING WORLD
Many months ago the President and Presidium of World Dance Council appointed as a Special Envoy Mr Nils-Haken Carlzon. His mission was to make every endeavour to restore peace and co-operation to Dancesport and to resolve the obstacles which are causing harm and disunity and damage to the careers of Competitors and Coaches. Mr Carlzon, the Honorary President of the IDO, was considered the ideal person to conduct the important task. IDO are connected to both the IDSF and the WDC and he is impartial in outlook.
The Presidium did so in the full knowledge that difficult decisions lay ahead and that compromise from all sides was essential. Mr Carlzon has gone to great lengths whilst pursuing his objective of "Peace in the Dance World". He has consulted with people from all aspects and all sides of Dancesport. He has written thousands of letters in the search for peace.
Finally he presented his report and proposals. At the WDC Annual General Meeting in May the matters was debated and it was agreed that the World Dance Council would write to the International Dancesport Federation proposing the formation of a joint committee of 4 persons from the IDSF and 4 from the WDC to explore the possibility of peace and co-operation for the benefit of dancesport throughout the world.
It is with sincere regret that the Presidium of the World Dance Council announce that this attempt to bring peace and co-operation was rejected by the IDSF members at their Annual General Meeting.
This decision cannot be in the best interests of dancers throughout the world.
The World Dance Council wish to announce that despite this rejection their door will always remain open to explore the creation of peace and co-operation for the good of all.
