WDC EUROPEAN PROFESSIONAL BALLROOM CHAMPIONSHIP

Mr. Tony Irving, the Organiser on behalf of Swedish Dance Organisation, is honored to announce that on Saturday the 17th of September, 2011 Stockholm will be hosting the World Dance Council's European Professional Ballroom Dancing Championships. The Championship is officially Sponsored by the City of Stockholm and by the Stockholm Visitors Board, and is part of the Cities 2011 official Events Calendar.

The venue is the magnificent setting of the Blue Hall, in Stockholm City Hall, the home of the Noble Prize Dinner Ceremonies, and all present will enjoy a spectacular and unforgettable night. It is no surprise that all seated tickets are sold out with only general entry tickets available.

The evening starts with a red carpet reception sponsored by Rotari Champagne which will be held in the Stockholm Gold Hall.

Over 100 Swedish celebrities have confirmed they will attend the event, and this has commanded widespread media attention with coverage from all major newspapers and networks. The final will be covered by the Sports News Channel and also there is a documentary being filmed about the competition .

The evening will commence with an inauguration speech by the Swedish Minister of Culture, followed by a speech from the representative for the Municipality of Stockholm.

There are 32 Couples competing representing 19 Nations, and they will dance to the music performed live by the Anderson Big Band.

The first of the 4 Rounds will commence at 7.30 p.m. With the final scheduled for 11.00 p.m. There will be general dancing between the rounds and the event will finish at 1.00 a.m.

The legendary Lorraine Rohdin will present the prizes with the winners trophy being Swedish Crystal specially commissioned. The top 12 competitors will receive the Saint Erik medal from the City of Stockholm.

After the event there is a Buffet and champagne reception being hosted in the Gold Hall for the Competitors and dignitaries.

The organisers wish to gratefully acknowledge the generous and magnificent sponsorship received. From :

Viking Cruise Lines which is the Baltic's major cruise company and has sponsored the prize money.

The Scandic hotel chain which is part of Hilton hotels has sponsored part of the accommodation at the luxurious Forresta Hotel on the island of Lidigö overlooking the city of Stockholm

Top Cab which is Specialist car hire company has sponsored the airport transfer and Ekmans Bus has sponsored the Transport to and from the venue.

The representative for the Swedish Association is Mr Gunnar Rohdin and the Chairman of adjudicators is Mr Fereanc Polai from Austria.
